- President’s Report:
We held an OKC metro area “meeting” on April 28th at the AFL-CIO office. The purpose of the meeting was to inform our locals what services the PFFO has to offer and how the locals can best utilize those services. We had a brief Legislative update from Legislative Director Chalk Norton. IAFF Vice President Sandy McGhee also spoke about how the locals, IAFF, and PFFO all need to work in conjunction with one another as well as some of the service offered through the PFFO. I also worked on putting together a booklet on the steps needed for locals to utilize during the negotiations process, and put together a presentation/power point on it. Also AFL-CIO President Jimmy Curry and AFL-CIO Communications Director Debra Wojek spoke about the AFL-CIO and what it can offer our members. The meeting was attended by representatives from El Reno, Seminole, Noble, Spencer, Del City, and Mustang. I am hopefully we can have these around the State with the next one in Tulsa this month or in June.
As I said I have compiled a “preparing for negotiations” booklet for us and our members to utilize, it still needs some editing and any input would be welcomed.
Enid grievance mediation on May 5th
I will be attending the IAFF Communications Class May 15th-19th.
